MSU Symphony Orchestra salutes Thailand in March 30 concert
Azusa Hokugo, a pianist from Osaka, Japan, and Elizabeth Croy, professor of voice at Montana State University, will be featured in the MSU Symphony Orchestra's concert, "Thailand Ties," set for 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 30, at Reynolds Recital Hall. The free concert will feature the American premiere of three musical works.
Croy will perform "Three Women for Soprano and Orchestra," composed by Daniel Eichenbaum, who will attend the concert. Eichenbaum is professor of theory and composition at Mahidol University College of Music in Nakonpathom Province, Thailand, the largest music conservatory in Southeast Asia.
Hokugo will perform "Concerto for Piano and Orchestra." The piece was composed by Denny Euprasert, dean of conservatory of music at Rangsit University in Bangkok. Euprasert will also attend the concert, which will be the American premiere of the piece.
The MSU Symphony will perform "Anoma River," a new piece written for large orchestras by Thai composer Atibhop Pataradetpisan. He has won numerous composition prizes in Russia, Japan and Thailand and currently is the head of the composition department at Mahidol University College of Music in Thailand.
Euprasert and Eichenbaum will be in residence at MSU throughout this week, March 26-30, offering master classes, lectures and seminars.
