High school basketball: Twin Bridges boys, girls sweep finals
BUTTE - The Twin Bridges boys’ basketball team defeated Shields Valley 52-40 in the district 11/12C basketball tournament championship game on Saturday night.
Tied at the end of the first quarter, Twin Bridges gained the lead by halftime, outscoring Shields Valley by 18 points.
Twin Bridges’ Clay Pierson scored a team-high 13 points and Ryan Tilstra contributed 11.
Ryan Ferguson scored 13 points, leading Shields Valley.

GARDINER 58, ENNIS 47: Gardiner took third in the tournament with the victory over Ennis.
Led by 21 points from Brooks Demaree, the Bruins offense shot well from the field sinking 10 3-pointers.
Ennis’ Ryan McNally scored a team-high 14 points.

GARDINER 46, WEST YELLOWSTONE 31: With the early victory Gardiner advanced to play for third place in the consolation game later Saturday afternoon.
Mitchell Cloghessy’s 20 points and eight rebounds led the Gardiner offense. Cloghessy also blocked three shots.
Grant Evje and Nick Griffin each scored eight points for West Yellowstone, as they were eliminated from the tournament.

Justin Clark and Joe Ingram of Sheridan each scored 10 points, tying for team-high score.
The loss put Sheridan out of the tournament.

TWIN BRIDGES 49, SHIELDS VALLEY 34: The Twin Bridges girls’ basketball team took top honors at the 11/12C basketball tournament.
Trailing by only three at the end of the first quarter, Twin Bridges’ Leah Cox hit back-to-back 3-pointers to help her team regain the lead.
Dawn Degel led Twin Bridges with 14 points.

SHERIDAN 66, ENNIS 51: Sheridan took third place in the girls’ district 11/12C tournament with a 15-point victory over Ennis, having defeated Gardiner earlier on Saturday morning.
Sheridan’s Sydnee Burke tallied 19 points, going 3-3 from 3-point range, and Anika Ward had 14.
Tessie Camblin scored a game-high 29 points for the Mustangs, but Ennis couldn’t overcome trailing 32-19 at halftime.
The Mustangs finished the tournament in fourth place.

SHERIDAN 48, GARDINER 33: Gardiner was eliminated in the first of two loser out games on Saturday, while Sheridan advanced to play for third.
Sydnee Burke led Sheridan’s offensive effort with 16 points. Sheridan took an early lead of 33-13 at the end of the second quarter, and even the slow finish of a three-point fourth quarter didn’t allow Gardiner to close the gap.
Gardiner’s leading scorer was Melissa Rees with 18 points.
