The Wheat Montana Junior Tour dates and host sites have been set for the summer golf season. Junior golfers ages 10 through 17 proficient in golf skills, rules, and playing ability are invited to sign up for any or all of the scheduled tournaments. The season begins June 21 with a PGA Golf Blitz at Cottonwood Hills Golf Course. The clinic will be from 9 a.m.-11 a.m. on the driving range. No pre-sign up is required. Tournament sites and dates include: Valley View GC on June 23; Riverside CC on June 30; Bridger Creek GC on July 7; Headwaters/Madison Meadows GC on July 14. Baseball
Miles CC baseball wins regional playoff: At Miles City, the Miles Community College baseball team has won the Region IX championship for the second year in a row.
Miles CC beat Dawson Community College 2-1 in a three-game series over the weekend.
The Cowboys play in the Northwest District Series in Iowa this weekend against two other regional champions for the right to advance to the Junior College Division II World Series for the second consecutive year.
Basketball
Lolo athlete signs with Montana Western: At Dillon, Brooke Zeiler a 5’10” forward from Lolo has signed a Frontier Conference /NAIA letter of intent to play basketball at the University of Montana Western according to women’s head coach Kevin Engellant.
As a senior she averaged 10 point and five rebounds per game. Zeiler earned all-state and all-conference honors her junior and senior seasons and was selected her team most valuable player.
“Brooke is a great addition to our program,” said Engellant. “She is long and athletic and runs the floor well. Brooke is a very versatile player who can score in a number of different ways.”
She also participates in track and earned all-conference and all-state honors.
Football
Rocky signs three recruits: At Billings, Rocky Mountain College has signed three more recruits for the 2008 season.
Wide receiver Cody Harris of Townsend recently signed with the Battlin’ Bears, along with lineman Brandon Williams of Adna, Wash., and quarterback Tate Sanders of Salem, Ore.
Harris was a first-team all-conference selection on offense and a second-team pick on defense as a safety.
Rocky recruiting coordinator B.J. Robertson says the team has signed 27 new players for the coming season. He says Rocky should have about 100 players when fall camp begins.
