Breaking news: Obama up early
Democratic presidential contender Barack Obama is up in early returns from Montana precincts, with Missoula, Flathead, Lewis and Clark, and Yellowstone counties reporting partial results.
With 9 percent of the state reporting, Hillary Clinton has 39 percent of the vote and Obama has 59 percent of the vote.
Obama is beating Clinton in the large, urban counties reporting and rural counties alike. Of the few counties reporting, Petroleum County - the least-populated county in the state - is the only one leaning toward Clinton.
Major media outlets and Democratic leaders in the state have already called the Montana primary for Obama, while Clinton is projected to win in South Dakota, which also held its primary today.
Gallatin County was expecting returns shortly.
